There are many Bible verses about children in the Bible! These Scripture passages reveal our heavenly Father’s deep affection for the little ones and also include teachings on how parents should raise their kids and disciple them to follow Jesus their entire lives.

These Bible verses often address different subtopics within the topic of children. Here are a few of them with downloadable wallpapers:

Jesus Cares Greatly about Children – Matthew 18:1-5 (NIV)

At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.a

God has Given Children as a Blessing to Parents – Psalm 127:3-5 (NIV)

Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court.h

Every Child has been Created Unique by God – Psalm 139:13-16 (NIV)

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

Parents are Responsible to Disciple their Children – Deuteronomy 6:4-9 (NIV)

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

Parents should not Frustrate their Children – Ephesians 6:4 (NIV)

Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Children should Obey and Respect their Parents – Proverbs 1:8-9 (NIV)

Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.

Children should Accept Correction – Proverbs 15:5 (NIV)

A fool spurns a parent’s discipline, but whoever heeds correction shows prudence.

Children are an Important Part of God’s Plan and Kingdom – Matthew 21:15-16 (NIV)

But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant. “Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked him. “Yes,” replied Jesus, “have you never read, “‘From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise’?”

All throughout Scripture, we see teaching about children. This teaching not only applies to parenting, but it also teaches us the value of the faith of a child and the value of the church community investing in the discipleship of the next generation.
