Dr. John L. Rothra is the owner and operator of JohnRothra.com. It is my desire to respect your privacy regarding any information collected while operating this website.
Like most website operators, Dr. Rothra collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. The purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how JohnRothra.com’s visitors use the website.
JohnRothra.com also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments. Dr. John Rothra only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below, except that blog commenter IP addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the blog where the comment was left.
Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information
Certain visitors to JohnRothra.com choose to interact with Dr. Rothra in ways that require gathering personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that is gathered depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, visitors who wish to post a comment are asked to provide their name, email address, and website address. If visitors wish to receive JohnRothra.com updates via email, they are required to provide their email address.
Another example is ecommerce and online sales. JohnRothra.com gathers and stores customer information needed to complete the purchase and to maintain a record of the purchase for future reference. Information stored on the website’s server include the customer’s name, address, and phone number; credit card or other banking information is not stored on the site. JohnRothra.com uses PayPal for processing payments.
In each case, JohnRothra.com collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with Dr. Rothra or JohnRothra.com. I do not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. Furthermore, visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.
JohnRothra.com may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to the website. For instance, Dr. Rothra may monitor the most popular pages or posts on the site or use spam screened by the Akismet service to help identify spam. Dr. Rothra may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, I do not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.
Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information
Dr. John Rothra discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors, and affiliated organizations that (1) need to know that information in order to process it on my behalf or to provide services available at JohnRothra.com, and (2) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. I primarily use JohnRothra.com and social media to communicate this type of information, so I expect to keep this type of email to a minimum. If you send a request (for example via a support email or via one of our feedback mechanisms), I reserve the right to publish it in order to help clarify or respond to your request, or to help support other users. Comments and other content submitted to Akismet anti-spam service are not saved on our servers unless they were marked as false positives, in which case we store them long enough to use them to improve the service to avoid future false positives.
